Bullfrogs and Butterflies is an innovative child-care program, where we are concerned with the development of the whole child: physical, mental and emotional. We feel that these early years of life are the most important and formative in a child’s growth. Learning facts is not the main developmental task or primary concern at this age level. Our primary focus is to create an environment for the child to explore with members of his/her peer group, to develop abilities to deal with a child’s world, and to promote self-esteem. All activities are planned to meet these goals and the child’s individual interests.
This philosophy is based on the best of many schools of thought. Our leaders accept the individual differences of each child and attempt to meet his/her needs through the reinforcement of positive attitudes and feelings.
The advantage of being located in a home is that we have use of several rooms so that children are not confined to a single area. There is a kitchen and an art studio, as well as areas for dramatic play, blocks, exploration, manipulative materials, language arts, music, movement, and drama. Within each area there is always a small quiet space available for individual work or to curl up and look at books.
